Overview
Intuit has released an update to all QuickBooks® desktop versions. Included in the release is an update of the Intuit Sync Manager. Intuit Sync Manager is automatically inserted into the company preferences of the QuickBooks® file. If Intuit Sync Manager already resides inside the QuickBooks® file, a duplicate copy will be installed as well.
The results of two Intuit Sync Managers being present can cause a QuickBooks® file to go into a hard lock up when another 3rd party sync application tries to connect. Not every QuickBooks® file experiences this issue. The environment exists for the QuickBooks® file to potentially experience the issue at some point if not corrected.
If the Sync Application Locks Up During Syncing
You must check inside each QuickBooks® file to ensure that you do not have two instances of Intuit Sync Manager installed. If there are two instances present, then you must remove the Intuit Sync Manager.
To Remove Intuit Sync Manager
Step 1. Open a QuickBooks® company file.
Step 2. Navigate to Edit > Integrated Applications > Company Preferences.
Step 3. Under the Company tab, check to see if you have any instances of Inuit Sync Manager present.
Step 4. Remove both instances of Intuit Sync Manager. The latest version will automatically restart the next time QuickBooks® is opened.
(It is not enough to un-check either of the instances. The oldest one must be removed. Therefore, we highly recommend removing both since the newest version self-installs again.)
